Aromatherapy in Holism Part II: Research and Application

This session will build on the presenter’s first exploration of Aromatherapy in the context of holism. We will explore the latest developments in methodology in scientific holistic research and how these strategies might apply to aromatherapy. We will also examine new methods being tested in research to measure synergy and their potential relationship to holistic aromatherapy interventions. This session will discuss assessment strategies aromatherapists can use for developing a holistic perspective when creating aromatherapy support plans.
Learner Outcomes:
Participants will be able to describe general categories of whole person research methodologies as they apply to aromatherapy.
Participants will be able to discuss the potential role of synergy in essential oils for understanding holistic aromatherapy interventions.

Amanda Lattin has been a practicing aromatherapist and herbalist for over 15 years, running her own consulting practice and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to incorporate aromatherapy and herbalism into their clients’ support plans. Amanda has taught chemistry, biochemistry, herbal medicine, aromatherapy, and phytochemistry at several colleges and universities and for continuing education for healthcare professionals. She is currently a professor and Dean of Aromatherapy at the American College of Healthcare Sciences.
