This webinar explores the value of committee work and how it enhances connection, contribution, and impact within the AIA. With a variety of committees to join, members have meaningful opportunities to grow and give back. We’ll discuss what it takes to be an effective committee member or leader and offer insights into the rewards—and challenges—of volunteering. Whether you're curious or ready to dive in, this session will guide and inspire your next steps.


Bruce R. Boynton, MD, PhD, MPH is the AIA North Carolina Representative and a member of the AIA Board of Directors. He has had a distinguished career as a Naval Officer, pediatrician, researcher, editor, and hospital administrator. He became interested in Aromatherapy while attending massage therapy school and studied at Aromahead Institute, Pacific Institute of Aromatherapy and The Heal Center in Atlanta, GA. He is the Editor of the Journal of Health and Human Experience.

 

Dr. Marian “Marnie” Reven is a passionate leader, change agent, and lifelong learner who calls the Appalachian region of the U.S. home, where she enjoys life with her husband and family. A Professor of Nursing at West Virginia University, Marnie is both a Certified and Registered Aromatherapist™. She is an advanced graduate of the Aromahead Institute and completed aromatherapy teacher training at the Aromatic Wisdom Institute.

Marnie currently serves as Chair of the AIA Research Committee, where she leads a dynamic team dedicated to reviewing and sharing the latest in essential oil and aromatic research. She also actively contributes to several other AIA committees and task forces, with a passion for mentoring and recruiting new talent.

Marnie is the founder and president of the Aromatic Research Quality Appraisal Taskforce (ARQAT), guiding a collaborative group of professionals committed to improving the quality and clarity of aromatic research reporting.

She believes the future of aromatherapy is filled with potential and warmly invites others to be part of this exciting journey through committee work and collaboration.
