AIA March 2024 Monthly Webinar - Flower Power: Calendula and its CO2 Extract with Madeleine Kerkhof

Calendula and its CO2 Extract with Madeleine Kerkhof

Learner Outcomes:

  • Gain more insights into the backgrounds and health benefits of Calendula officinalis
  • Learn about the benefits of Calendula CO2-total in particular
  • Understand why and how Calendula CO2-total can be a key ingredient in skin and oral care

Calendula officinalis, or Marigold, with its bright yellow-orange flower head, has been valued in culinary traditions and herbal medicine since at least the 3rd century BC. A range of studies confirm the extensive healing powers of Calendula. The flower extracts, in a variety of preparations from tinctures to infused oil, are topically used for burns, cuts, rashes, dermatitis, varicose veins and vasculitis.

In the 1950’s a new method to extract valuable constituents from plants was introduced and gradually made its way from the food and flavouring industry to perfumery, cosmetics and aromatherapy: CO2 extraction, a highly selective and environmentally friendly process often resulting in extracts with extensive healing power.

In this webinar Madeleine will show why in her practice, Calendula CO2-total is her first and primary choice in formulations for skin care, for wound care – even the most challenging and infected ones, as well as oral care gels. She will talk you through its extensive and evidence informed benefits, illustrated by compelling cases and inspire you with excellent formulation examples for your clinical own practice.
