The Evolution of a Class Assignment to Published Research Studies

with Susan Kristiniak DHA, MSN, RN, AHN-BC, NEA-BC, IAC

Eligible for 1 CE

Learner Outcomes:

  • By the end of the session, the participant will evaluate an aromatherapy project that prompted further inquiry and evolved two research projects.
  • By the end of the session, the participant will analyze the subsequent research studies that developed from the original ideation using a validation tool.
  • By the end of the session, the participant will create additional research questions based on inquiry prompted by the three researched studies.

The presenter will describe the journey of how reviewing an article by Jane Buckle, highlighting her students' projects for a hospital's aromatherapy program, prompted a research study to improve vein visualization that was published for interdisciplinary readers in 2012 and was later replicated in 2021. The review will assess the quality of each of the studies using the TREATS checklist and prompt the participants to consider how to further develop this ideation and sense of inquiry to future studies.TREATS Checklist
