This meeting is intended to share new information and give participants the opportunity to consider how this information might be applied in their practice. The White Paper, published on August 5, 2022 on the arqat.org website, will be the topic of discussion. This document contains details about the Aromatic Research Quality Appraisal Taskforce (ARQAT) and creation of the Transparent Reporting for Essential oil and Aroma Therapeutic (TREATS) checklist. Participants will hear from the founder and president, Marian “Marnie” Reven and have the opportunity to consider, question, and provide feedback.

Marian 'Marnie' Reven is an energetic researcher, scholar, and teacher engaged in bridging the gap between traditional and nontraditional medicine and health care. She is an assistant professor of nursing at West Virginia University where she is pursuing her PhD and is founder and president of the Aromatic Research Quality Appraisal Taskforce (ARQAT). Since January 2021, Marnie and colleagues have pondered the question “What elements are necessary in all nonpharmacologic aromatic research and reporting?” They have dedicated intensive effort to create the TREATS (Transparent Reporting for Essential oil and Aroma Therapeutic Studies) checklist, and with input from aromatic specialists around the world, plan for future creation of a reporting guideline. Through the White Paper, they share their journey and provide background and insight into the process.
