This presentation will introduce you to chemical ecology and chemical communication. You will find that essential oils and chemical communication overlap in unique ways in that many of the chemical constituents that make up essential oils are critical for the survival of many species. In this respect, chemical constituents function as words used in messages designed to protect, attract, and even deceive. Some of these messages even come in the form of aromatic cocktails familiar to most of us. The presentation will show the dynamic scope of chemical communication and just how much this planet and its species rely on it.
